The U17’s played their second game in their league campaign on Saturday morning in Emmett Park, Lisnaskea against a Lisnaskea side who were coming off the back of a win in their opening game against Enniskillen. Roslea started brightly and whilst both sides were fairly even in the opening exchanges it was Micheal Flanagan who opening the Shamrocks account in the 11 th Minute with a 14m free. This was followed up in the 13 th minute when Caolan Rooney collected a poor Lisnaskea kickout and coolly lobbed the keeper before he could get back on his line to register Roslea’s only goal of the game. After this score the Shamrocks went on to dominate the proceedings in the first half with further points from Micheal Flanagan in the 20 th , 23 rd 26 th and 33 rd minutes with his score in the 26th minute being particularly notable after a fantastic run from deep in his own defence. Other point scorers in the first half for Roslea were Caolan Rooney, Eamon Lynam, who had a good game at midfield in the 24 th minute and Adam Callaghan close to half time, again after a great run from his centre half back position. The half time score was Roslea 1.08 Lisnaskea 0.03, all bar two of Roslea’s points in the first half coming from play and all after decent passages of play.
Roslea’s great work rate of the first half rate faded in the first quarter of the 2nd half and despite another point from Micheal Flanagan on 2 mins after the restart it was Lisnaskea who would go on to dominate the initial exchanges of the 2 nd half. Roslea failed to register another score until the 17 th minute of the half when the excellent Charlie Mc Mahon playing from full back registered a great point from play. Despite the ongoing pressure from a resurgent Lisnaskea for the remainder of the half, two further points from frees from Micheal Flanagan in the 21 st and 35 th minute and a point from play from Oisin Toye in the 26 th minute meant Roslea held on, with the help of a couple of close range saves from Oisin Boyle, for a well-deserved 3 point win and get their first points of the season on the board. Best for Roslea were Charlie Mc Mahon & Adam Callaghan in defence and Eamon Lynam, Micheal Flanagan, Oisin Toye and Caolan Rooney in midfield / attack.
Roslea scorers on the day were:
- Michael Flanagan 0.08 (3 from frees)
- Caolan Rooney 1.01
- Eamon Lynam 0.01
- Adam Callaghan 0.01
- Charlie Mc Mahon 0.01
- Oisin Toye 0.01
Final score: Roslea 1-13 Lisnaskea 2-07.
