In 2015 because of reduced numbers in both clubs, the minors (U18s) of Roslea and Aghadrumsee will amalgamate and play under the St. Gerard's official name. The team is generously sponsored by Cairnhill Nursing Homes/McMahon Healthcare. All home games will be played in Aghadrumsee where practical and their Division 1 League campaign gets underway with an away game against Lisnaskea on Sunday 8th February at 12 noon.
St. Gerard’s Overcoming Tempo 11/4/2015
St. Gerard’s minor team also had a successful week overcoming a physically imposing Tempo side in a heartening display on Tuesday evening. Niall Clerkin kicked the bulk of St. Gerard’s points while Eoin McCabe, Conor Keenan, Jason Sreenan and Noel Grew were among the goal scorers. Martin O’Hara in goals saved at least one goal bound shot and he was provided with sound defensive cover by Cathal Lynam at full back and Shane McAleer who continuously made himself available for short kick outs and then worked the ball intelligently up the field. Next game for St. Gerard’s is scheduled for Tuesday 21st April.
Team Report 2014
Roslea minors entered the season recognised as one of the top teams in the county after a great year at u16 two years earlier. However, they found the going tough early in the year with injuries hampering their progress in section A. They finally settled into Divison 2 for the year and from the first game they never looked back and won all their remaining games to reach the Division 2 League final. In the final the opposition was Maguiresbridge and after an excellent all round team performance they won on a score line of 5-7 to 11 points.
They entered the championship in confident mood against Derrygonnelly. The team was short a few regulars which made things difficult but after a gutsy performance they just came up short by 3 points. Still a year to look back on with fond memories as it has been quite some time since we have enjoyed success of any kind at minor level.
Thanks to the management team of Colm Connolly, John Mohan and Peter Lynch for guiding the boys in 2014.
